A basic instrument set for MSICS is fairly straight forward and more or less familiar to most cataract surgeons.

Although some sets have more instruments on them, the basic 9 instruments are as follows:

  • Lid speculum
  • Drape scissors
  • Wescott scissors
  • .12 forceps
  • Utrada forceps
  • Kelman IOL forceps
  • Irrigating lens vectis
  • Simcoe cannula
  • Sinske hook

Other instruments that are sometimes handy to have on hand are:

  • Vannas scissors
  • Needle holder

Disposable instruments that are important are:

  • Sideport - 15 degree blade
  • Crescent blade
  • Keratome
  • Cystotome
